2nd grade. Morning routine

Each morning in our second grade English classes we make the sign of the Trinity and begin reciting The Lord´s Prayer in English.
After our prayer, a "mini teacher" is chosen to start the daily routine at the English corner. He or She is given the teacher glasses and the very important marker stamp!
Daily routine questions such as, What´s the weather like today? and How do you feel? are asked by the mini teacher to students chosen by the mini teacher. If the questions are answered correctly, the child is awarded with a stamp on the hand.

4th grade. Let´s practice some grammar!!

The verb "To Be" is one of the most important verbs in the English language.  We use this verb on a daily basis and is a fundamental part of a childs English vocabulary.  As we learn this verb in both present and past, we want the children to enjoy learning grammar and make it a fun experience.  Playing games in class as well as using interactive games on the computer can help the children like grammar.
Here are two interactive computer games to practice the usage of the verb "to be" in both present and past:
Hope you enjoy them!
The present of the verb "To Be"
The past of the verb "To Be"

And you can also practice how to make sentences with present simple with these games:
Present Simple "Monkey game"
Present Simple "Billionaire game"

Resources for Games in English

One of the most effective ways to learn English is by playing games.  Many online sites offer free games in English and include fun exercises and challenges in grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structure.  Different levels are offered in each game, so don't worry -- whether you are a beginner or an advanced English speaker, there will be an appropriate game for you!

Here are some of the websites we have been using with our students.

A Week of Linguistic Immersion in Avila (December 2015)

Highlights from English Trip to Avila

By: Carmen Romero  //  3o - C (ESO)

This year, during the linguistic immersion week, some students of first, second, and third year of     ESO went to an English camp for a week.  From Monday to Friday, we lived with English     speaking monitors twenty-four hours a day, which is a great opportunity to improve our English and build confidence to speak it in public.
Just when we arrived, they gave us a room, which we shared with the person we had previously asked to sleep with us. They put us into four mixed groups that we would work with for the rest of the week.
In two big groups, we also prepared one song each to perform in the last night's talent show.
We watched movies in the evenings, in original version with subtitles in English.  This year's movies included the trilogy of "The Hobbit." After we watched the movies, we made a movie review between all of us.
From my point of view, I think it's a great and fun experience where you can improve your skills and learn new vocabulary.  I think that it's a fantastic atmosphere to learn in and a very good experience for anyone. If I had to improve something, it would be the movies we watched this year and the food, but this is just my opinion.
I've been going to the English camp in the language immersion week since I was nine years old, and I recommend that everybody try this at least once, as I think it's a fantastic, fun, and very enriching experience.

Daily Routine en AMCO

Amco clases use the work methodology of two strategies that act as the fundamental pillars of the method and repeat systematically throughout all grade levels.  These two methods are the Daily Routine and the Pronunciation Lab.

Today, we will explain what the Daily Routine consists of.  The Daily Routine begins at the beginning of the class.  The students know that this is a time for working together and demonstrate confidence. Theyenjoyparticipating and everyone is given the opportunity to speak and always in English!

The Daily Routine consists of the following activities:

·         Greeting
·         The selection of the mini teacher
·         The selection of an assistant
·         Days of the week
·         The weather
·         Class rules
·         A quick review of what’s already been learned

All this is accompanied with visual and audio aids such as posters, flashcards and songs….

Here are some pictures to show you how we work.

Amco Methodology in Preschool

With our schools quest for providing the best English and its use in the curriculum, this year we have introduced a new methodology of English to all of our preschool classes.

The AMCO method and its methodology hasbeen implementedin our preschool classes and will progressively continue expanding throughout the school.  It allows us to situate ourselves as a leading educational center for teaching English, breaking down the barriers of the traditional methods of teaching English, which were based on theory.  Now, we can start a more important focus on the communication of the language while still implementing the grammar aspects of the language, which helps us understand the language more thus having better communication skills.

Part of the AMCO method of teaching is the investigation and implementation of innovative methodologies in learning based multiple intelligences of the emotional development, social and intellectual skills of each student along with the tools needed to face the challenges of a multicultural and competitive changing society.  One of these basic tools is effective competent communication in English.

Based on this method, we utilize strategies for learning that attract, retain, and increase the interest and aptitude of the students that will help them to develop into people qualified to confront the challenges of our society.

In our classes, we want to offer our students not only theoverall education needed but also the intellectual and emotional aspects accompanied with values, good habits, character, and emotional intelligence.

The objectives are:

  •          Awaken the urge to speak English within our students.
  •         Develop the basic skills necessary to communicate in English.
  •     Enrich the English vocabulary of the students through integrated exposure within the system.
  •         Propose creative and playful activities to encourage learning.
  •         Contribute to the integral development of the child.
  •      Attend to the different learning levels through multiple intelligences that our various students have.
  •         Form positive attitudes of other cultures, languages, customs, and speakers.
